January Fun ('13 Edition)

Since it's the end of the first month in a new year, let's get the monthly fun 2013 edition started! Here are some of the happenings from around these parts over the past month.

Beef stir fry. This was a new recipe and it was quite tasty and easy.

We split a hog with my parents so our first taste test of the meat was some pan fried pork chops with apricot bourbon sauce on top. Pretty tasty stuff.

Drew got these two WWE DVDs during a Christmas gift exchange. I rolled my eyes. Then, I discovered them with the rest of our DVDs for the whole world to see. I'm not sure what bothered me more, that they were on display or that they were not placed on the rack in alphabetical order.

The elusive Kramer wink was finally captured by the camera!

Kramer got a new pumpkin dog after the unfortunate demise of her beloved devil dog. She attacked it with unmatched ferocity and then brought it with her to her bed to keep it in her sight at all times.

Drew built some storage shelves along the back wall in the basement. Obviously we are still in the process of getting things organized, but how lovely are those shelves?!

Oven roasted chicken. This time, I soaked the bird in some brine before putting it in the oven and then I actually stuffed some herb butter between the skin and the meat of the breast. So tasty!

Kramer Nap Interrupted

The other day I was taking a snooze on the couch and my favorite pooch decided to join me. She fell asleep before I did and I decided to take some pictures of her. Below is a progression of three shots and my interpretation of Kramer's thoughts on the matter.

Zzzz. Bones. Walks. Treats.

OK, did you really just take my picture while I was sleeping? Seriously? And are you getting ready to take another one right now? Maybe if I don't move, you'll leave me alone and I can get back to my nap.

You seriously took another picture of me. I was trying to sleep and now you have interrupted my nap. Never mind that I have already slept 14 hours today, this was going to be a great nap. Why is that camera still in my face?

Seriously, this dog is a riot. And super cute!

December Fun

Even though I posted a picture a day for the first 25 days of the month, here are some highlights that didn't make the DPP cut. December sure was fun!

We put up the tree and it really was a joint effort. Drew drug the thing upstairs and I unpacked it all! Again this year, I got so excited about the Christmas ball ornaments that I didn't even touch all the cute, fun Hallmark ornaments my parents gave me growing up. Is it time to get another Christmas tree?!

Beef stew in the crock pot. Honest to goodness, I dished this up for us and told Drew that the next time I made it I would put some peas in there because I thought it needed a pop of color. He looked at me funny and said he thought he remembered the recipe calling for peas. AAHH!

So we added peas and it looked so much more colorful. And the peas tasted quite good too!

We got some pet antlers free at the pet store and this happened. It still cracks me up!

This was how you could find Kramer pretty much every day this month. It makes me smile!

One of my favorite treats, Christmas or otherwise, marzipan. My brother got some for me to enjoy this year. Yum!

Movie night at our house. Christmas Vacation and some cheese popcorn made for a pretty great experience. Also, Happy Festivus!

This is the way the snow has melted along the stepping stone path in the backyard. I thought it was pretty cool.
